Kuala Lumpur: Dataran Merdeka will host the first ever KL Supercar Drag Race, a head-to-head 201m race starting from July 15 till December 4, with the event held on four separate weekends – July 15-17, September 16-18, November 4-6 and December 2-4.
The KL Supercar Drag Race, the brainchild of the Minister of the Federal Territories, YBM Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, will be organized by the Biro Hal Ehwal Bandar dan Perumahan, Pergerakan Pemuda UMNO Malaysia with the support from Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).
Event chairman and UMNO Youth Housing and Urban Affairs chairman, Nazir Hussin Akhtar Hussin is expecting to host 1,600 supercar owners with an audience of more than 10,000 visitors. “This is the first time that a race is going to be held at the center of Kuala Lumpur and organizing it in the heart of the city would attract tourists from around the globe,” he added.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is expected to officiate the event at the second series which is on September 16-18.
